Dress Up Drive time comes once a year! Each fall means it’s time to clean out those dress up bins! Please consider donating cleaned & gently loved, outgrown Halloween costumes to be donated to local families just in time for Trick-or-Treat!
What is the Dress Up Drive?
Princess Genevieve started the Halloween Dress Up Drive in 2009 to collect children’s Halloween costumes for children who don’t get a new costume each year. You can donate by bringing items to our drop off boxes in the Warrenton, VA area (locations announced each September).
What can I donate?
We accept donations of cleaned dress up clothes and costumes in good condition. We ask that you only share the costumes that are new or clean and in good enough condition that you would want your own child to play in. We cannot accept torn, ripped, or dirty items to give to a needy child. We go through these costumes ourselves before sending them to their new homes.
Why get involved?
Whether with friends or alone playing in their room, a box of dress up clothes holds endless imaginative possibilities for boys and girls! Princess Genevieve’s fondest memories are held in long days of childhood that never seemed to end. Those days were full of “pretend”, dressing up, and getting lost in a story in her own mind.
We hope you’ll consider donating cleaned & gently love
Why is it Important?
We are firm believers that make-believe is vitally important in a child’s early years. Dress up and pretend are the times when children are able to escape from the reality of the adult world and get lost in their fantasies.
Imagination is more important than knowledge. -Albert Einstein
Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will. – George Bernard Shaw Read
You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus. -Mark Twain
The man who has no imagination has no wings. – Muhammad Ali
It would be nice if as adults we did a little more of this ourselves.
