Winter’s darker days have set in and the darkest day of the year, Winter Solstice on December 22, will be here very soon. The sun dips into it’s darkest place in the sky and the temperatures drop. Celebrations surround this astronomical movement as the sun starts bringing more and more light each day the third day following Solstice. This continues as it moves to it’s position for Summer Solstice June 20, 2016. Many of the worlds’ cultures rejoice the return of the the sun to the other side.
For centuries, the sky’s darkness during this time of year has symbolised man’s ability to rise from life’s challenges. Though you may find yourselves in a time of darkness, remember that you will rise again. The sun always returns. The light inside you always will, too.
What will you do to shine your light brightly during the of dark winter?

Do you decorate your home’s windows with warm candle decorations? I love dreaming of what’s going on inside a home with warm light pouring through the windows during a cold winter eve. Maybe there’s a fire aglow warming a loving mommy and daddy reading to their little ones under a Christmas tree decorated with memories they’ve collected together? Do you ever dream the lives inside the homes you pass on your daily commute?
What can you do to shine your light as a beacon for someone else? We never know who may be in need. Those who need love most do not always come in obvious packages.
Light brings warmth to the darkness.
Sending you much warmth and light for the holiday season.
We’re feeling generous so we’ve made you a free Christmas download- since this month on our Facebook page we’re talking about generosity and encouraging the world to be more giving. I saw this precious rhyme on First in Fun’s awesome blog and just knew our readers would gobble it up– so we made our own. To me it reads like a magic spell!

Wouldn’t it make it even more magical if the ground was covered in snow? Here’s the full poem.
Magic Reindeer Food
Santa’s reindeer come once a year
And sometimes the night isn’t very clear
So help the reindeer find their way
To your house with Santa’s sleigh.
Sprinkle this liberally on the lawn
The reindeer will be there before the next dawn.
They’ll smell the food and see crystals shine
And hurry fast to see what they will find.
But they’ll only come when you’re in bed.
So spread the food and lay down your head.
On Christmas morn, the results you’ll see
When Santa’s gifts are under the tree!
First in Fun suggests this recipe. Though I would add glitter (obviously) include the usual carrots and apple near Santa’s cookies near the hearth inside!.
Give each student a sandwich bag. Have students put in a scoop of oatmeal and sprinkle green and red sugar sprinkles (cake decorating aisle) into the bag. Then attach the poem.
This is perfect if you’re a classroom teacher or a parent looking to add some extra magic on Christmas Eve and hoping to start a new family tradition!

For Christmas this year, Prince Darian got me the most wonderful present! One of my favorite things to do, besides dancing of course, is to cook and bake, but I’m always worried about getting my lovely dresses messy! So this year, Prince Darian found me an apron fit for a princess! It has images of the Kingdom of France’s lovely city of Paris, and the Eiffel tower, and adorable ruffles and a pink bow! It’s perfect! I hope your Christmas was merry and bright, and that you got the gift you’ve been dreaming of!
